Parents
Parents are encouraged to take advantage of the tools MCASD offers to enhance their ability to facilitate student progress.
U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius recently announced the re-launch of the Stop Bullying website www.stopbullying.gov. This newly revitalized site encourages children, parents, educators, and communities to take action to stop and prevent bullying. The website includes detailed information on state laws, policies, and practical strategies for schools and communities to ensure safe environments, and suggestions on how parents can talk about bullying with their children. The site also explores the dangers of cyber bullying and steps that can be taken to fight it.

e-Schoolbook-This tool allows parents to see their child's classroom assignments, homework, and test scores throughout the school year. This helps by allowing parents to know when work is due and monitor their chold's performance on a daily basis. Using this tool helps parents be an more active participant in the education of their child. To set up an eSchoolbook account, return the e-Schoolbook account form to the principal's office in person.
e-Schoolbook Limitations - Please be advised if you send an email message to a teacher via e-Schoolbook, the reply may not actually reach you. This is due to a function of e-Schoolbook not under the control of MCASD. For that reason, we suggest you only use email links and addresses of teachers and staff located on the Faculty pages. Also be sure to keep your parent contact information up- to-date to avoid similar problems in email applications within e-Schoolbook.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)- This association offers unique opportunities for collaboration among parents and educators and also hosts several guest speakers and entertaining activities throughout the school year.
Technology-The district offices and television station maintain websites and cablecast programs that provide helpful information about children's health, educational tools and tips for parents, and district activities aimed at improving the educational experience and quality of life.
Parents Toolkit - The Central Pennsylvania Gold Medal Initiative has developed a Parent’s Toolkit to help answer the many questions high students and their parents will have about making career and education decisions. The kit includes a wealth of resources, including information on making school count, how Pennsylvania State Academic Standards for Career Education and Work can affect the students’ school experience and exploring careers.
